Message from Jim

Hi, I’m Jim and I set up Our 4 Legged Friends CIC to follow my passion of working with animals. It all started 15 years ago when I took my dog Ellie into see visit my Auntie Patricia who had dementia. Fast forward to today, and we are on a mission to show how animals can play a really important role in helping improve mental health, building relationships and navigate challenges.

  • At 4 Legged Friends, we have a fabulous team of equines that keep us on our hooves. Our crew includes Rio and Molly, two stately horses, along with Marley and Zac, our two miniature horses, who firmly believe size doesn’t matter. Then there are Sam and Ely, our donkeys, who bring endless affection—and a touch of mischief. There’s something truly magical about the connection and energy that horses bring. These majestic animals have superpowers to sense emotions and have a calming effect that makes you forget they just tried to steal your carrot snack.

  • Dogs are where it all started for us with Ellie the therapy dog; fast forward 10 years we now have eight dogs including four rescues: Tallulah, Cody, Lola and Roxy. Each one has their own unique story, personality, and quirks, and they’ve become cherished members of our family. The rescues remind us daily not only of the importance of giving animals a second chance and how much better farm chores are with a wagging tail by your side. Their unconditional love (and occasional stolen sandwiches) make it all worthwhile.

  • Where do we even begin with cats? Jim got his first cat Mary when he was just 10 years old. Fast forward 35 years, and he adopted Tobias, a stray he found while on holiday in Greece. Little did he know that this would spark the creation of a cat rescue and sanctuary with 25 cats. Cats bring immense therapeutic benefits to our visitors, who love spending time relaxing with these affectionate feline.
